DiskSorter provides a powerful solution for file classification. It allows you to classify files on disks, directories and network shares, as well as NAS storage devices. You can also save classification reports and export the results to a SQL database.
DiskSorter Main GUI Application
DiskSorter comes with a variety of file classification plugins that can recognize more than 3,000 different types of files. These plugins allow you to classify your files by file type, file extension, user name and creation, modification, and access dates. Users can create various pie charts, filter and categorize file classification results, and save classification reports in a variety of formats, including HTML, PDF and Excel.
DiskSorter File Classification Pie Charts
IT and storage administrators can submit file classification reports for multiple servers and NAS devices to a centralized SQL Database and analyze disk usage trends per server or per user.
Classifying files in Network Servers and NAS Storage Devices
DiskSorter is a network scanning tool that allows you to discover and locate network servers, NAS storage, and network shares. It can also classify the files on hundreds of servers, NAS devices and network storage. The user can also export the detected servers and NAS devices (including the lists of network shares on each server) to HTML, PDF and Excel CSV.
Classifying files on network servers
Press the 'Network" button on the main toolbar to classify the files of one or more network servers or NAS devices. DiskSorter then scans the network, and displays a list with the detected servers. Select the servers you want to classify in the dialog for network servers and NAS devices. Then click the 'Classify" button.
Classifying files in network shares
DiskSorter shows all network shares on selected servers and NAS devices, allowing you to classify and save different types of file classification reports and charts. DiskSorter also offers a wide range of advanced file-classification options that allow users to customize and tune file-classification operations based on their hardware configurations and user needs.
DiskSorter Command Line Utility
DiskSorter Ultimate, DiskSorter Server and DiskSorter Server include a command-line utility that allows users to perform file classification, save different types of classification reports, export classification results into an SQL database, and control up to three DiskSorter Servers, either locally or remotely.

DiskSorter Server
DiskSorter server is provided to Enterprise customers. It runs as a background service, allowing multiple file classifications in parallel, scheduling periodic file classifications, and providing advanced file classification capabilities that are optimized for servers and NAS devices.
DiskSorter Server Client GUI Application
DiskSorter Server can be controlled by a client GUI that provides all the features of the desktop version, plus additional capabilities such as scheduling periodic file classifications and performing multiple-parallel classifications on a variety of servers or NAS storage devices.
DiskSorter Server Web-Based Interface
DiskSorter Enterprise also provides a web management interface that allows you to manage one or more servers via a standard web browser, either locally or over the network.
Batch File Classification
DiskSorter Server or DiskSorter Enterprise can scan the network and detect all network storage devices or servers, run pre-configured commands to classify files on hundreds of servers or NAS devices, and produce a file classification report per network server or NAS device.
Batch File Classification
The simplest way to do this is by pressing the Network button on the main toolbar. This will search for all network servers and NAS devices in the network. Select one or more servers. Press the right mouse button, and then select the Batch File Classification menu item. DiskSorter displays a list with pre-configured commands for file classification. Select one or more of these commands and they will be executed across all network servers and NAS devices selected.
Batch File Classification Mode
DiskSorter can save individual file classification reports for each network device, NAS storage or network share, depending on the configuration selected. After the batch file classification is complete, the user can open the saved file classification report, review the file classification results, create various types of pie graphs, and export the reports in a variety of formats, including HTML, CSV, CSV, and XML.
