q.632 was a modestly upgraded repackage for Magpha EQ. This obscure plugin's phase-modeled filters gave it a reputation of smoothness and fidelity comparable to analog mastering EQs that cost $9,000 each.

Kush, spotting an opportunity for this tech to be revived, reached out to John Flynn - the mastering engineer that developed Magpha - and obtained an exclusive license to both Magpha and its underlying EQ algorithm.

The q.632 was the first Kush product that leveraged Magpha's EQ DSP, allowing for an extended gain range, a new Preset Manager, and Apple Silicon compatibility. Magpha EQ’s core dsp, with its tightly phased sound, remains untouched and will be slowly incorporated into Kush’s products.

Tl;dr : If you're looking for a minimalist, dead-simple EQ that will never damage any part of your audio, no matter how you use it, then q.632 should be the one you get.
